To accurately determine if the growth is mold, it must be tested and analyzed by a professional laboratory. Consequently, home inspectors and sometimes Mold Assessors refer to any growth as "microbial growth" until it is properly identified as a specific type of mold. The professional labs send a PDF report back to the property inspection company, which then forwards it to the customer who requested the mold test.
