Do home inspectors look for plumbing leaks?

Home inspectors conduct thorough evaluations for visible water leaks during both residential and commercial property inspections. Frequently, there are indicators of plumbing leaks that may not be immediately visible but manifest as moisture stains, or the water meter located near the curb or front yard may be active despite no water usage inside the property. This could suggest a potential leak in the water line.

Inspectors also examine areas around the water heater for leaks. Older water heaters are susceptible to rust at the base of the tank or at various valve connections, and inspectors will meticulously inspect these areas.

Additionally, some home inspection companies provide sewer scope inspections to comprehensively evaluate the plumbing system's condition.
